Angus Paul Wines on a Flight of Furious Fancies 2021

W.O. Polkadraai Hills. Chenin Blanc.

Primary aromas of orchard blossoms, ripe green apple and pear, are balanced out with an undertone of fresh cream thanks to the spontaneous mallo. All on a backdrop of that all too characteristic Polkadraai seashell and flintstone.

The palate is dry, tight and linear with that brooding undertone of fresh fruit still too young to have fully developed, showing just a hint of a herbal edge along with the primary fruit and ending in a long satisfying slightly phenolic and typically mouthwatering saline finish.

This is an outstanding wine that can be drunk now but really shouldn’t and will only start coming into its own in six to twelve from now and continue to develop complexity for up to a decade if carefully cellared.
